April 26 Event: #Haiti Lobby Day Agenda on Capitol Hill — HAWG
The Haiti Advocacy Working Group, Haitian Grassroots partners, Diaspora leaders and additional U.S. Citizens are coming together to bring their voices to Capitol Hill on April 26, 2012. They will advocate for a just reconstruction process in Haiti, one that prioritizes consultation with Haitian grassroots groups and Diaspora groups. They will also advocate for passage of the Assessing Progress in Haiti Act and the Haiti Gender-Based Violence Resolution.
THURSDAY, APRIL 26
8:30-9:15am: HAWG Breakfast at the United Methodist Building, 100 Maryland Ave NE, Washington, DC (A)
9:15-10:30am: Advocacy/Lobbying Training and Legislative Prep with HAWG policy members
10:30-11:15am: Presentation by Congresswoman Frederica Wilson and Haitian Grassroots Partners, Rose Edith Germain (Agricultural Coordinator for MPNKP) and Gerald Mathurin (Director of KROSE)
11:15am-12:00pm: Split up into state groups to strategize and plan lobby visits
12:00pm-12:30pm: Lunch provided
12:30pm-5:00pm: Lobby visits on the Hill. Senate (B). House (C)
3:30-4:30pm: House Briefing, Chronic Displacement in Western Hem., Longworth 1539. Open to Public. (C)
5:00-7:00pm: HAWG Reception at the Historic Mott House, 122 Maryland Ave NE (D)
