Nov. 8: #Haiti Projects Cocktails, Fashions & Art — Hampshire House, Boston

sarahackett.jpg

On November 8 view the exquisite hand-sewn linens from the Artisinat of Haiti Projects, Inc. in Fond des Blancs at a cocktail reception at the Hampshire House in Boston. Each year, Fond des Blancs linens become treasured holiday gifts. The event will unveil a new line of high-end fashion accessories designed by Haitian fashion designer Prajje.

The event will inaugurate the Sara Hackett Fund, named after the Founder and Gloucester, MA native, who established the sewing cooperative to create sustainable, dignified jobs for Haitian women in a remote, extremely impoverished region of Haiti. Today 100 women sew nightware and tableware for the world market, earning incomes to support their families, while generating profits to support a women’s health clinic, a community library, and scholarships.
