Midwives for Haiti
Midwives for Haiti has been working in Haiti since 2006. Its mission is to reduce maternal and infant mortality by focusing on education for Haitian healthcare professionals and direct service delivery. Midwives for Haiti has trained 218 midwives, who represent over 30% of the skilled birth attendants working In Haiti today at 68 health centers throughout the country. In addition, the organization provides training to Haiti’s traditional birth attendants and provides care at two rural birth centers and 10 weekly community clinics. Their latest program is Kay Manman Yo, a maternity waiting home for high-risk pregnant women.
